Diesel Transmissions
Is your 68RFE, Aisin AS69RC, or Allison 1000 jerking or dropping into limp mode? Before a full transmission swap, we diagnose the TCM — most of these failures are electronics, not gears.

Here's how we diagnose it
✔ connection established> scanning: diesel transmissions...⚠ fault pattern recognized> component-level repair probability: highAutomatic transmissions in diesel work trucks — the 68RFE and Aisin AS69RC in Ram Cummins, the Allison 1000 in GM and Ford heavy-duty trucks — take a beating from towing, hauling, and commercial use, and a lot of what looks like a transmission on its way out is actually the TCM or mechatronics, not the gears. Before quoting a mechanical rebuild, we diagnose the control electronics first.
Common symptoms
Pick the symptom to see the likely cause
Harsh, delayed, or "double" shifts that feel like the transmission is hunting for a gear: the TCM is commanding pressures that don't match the situation, and the mechanical assembly is simply obeying a bad order.
Our process
- Step 01
Remote diagnostics
You describe the symptoms and fault codes, we remotely narrow down whether it's likely electronics or mechanical
- Step 02
Live and freeze-frame reading
We analyze the data at the exact moment of the fault, not just the stored code
- Step 03
Module or solenoid pack repair
We work at the component level, preserving the mechanical transmission case
- Step 04
Plug & Play delivery
The TCM/mechatronics comes back ready to install, bench-tested
The real cause, by platform
68RFE (Ram Cummins 6.7L, 2007.5 and up)
The TCM function lives inside the NGC — the same New Generation Controller module that runs the engine PCM on 6.7L trucks, not a separate standalone box — and the solenoid pack it commands is a known wear point: heat and debris in the fluid degrade it over time, producing harsh shifts, flare-ups on the 2-3 shift, or codes like P1503, P1514, P1515, and P1621.
Aisin AS69RC (Ram Cummins 6.7L, 2019 and up)
We've frequently seen a real mechanical failure get mistaken for an electronics problem: worn K1 clutch snap rings and K2 clutch hub teeth (addressed in part by TSB 21-002-23) cause slipping and harsh shifts that look identical to a TCM fault. Part of our diagnosis is telling the two apart before you pay for either repair.
Allison 1000 (GM/Chevrolet-GMC Duramax and Ford medium-duty)
The TCM and its internal wiring harness take continuous heat and vibration, and internal connections are a common failure point — that's typically what drops the truck into limp mode (locked in 3rd or 4th, torque converter lockup disabled) even when the hydraulics and gears are fine.

Towing and heat in South Florida
Work trucks in Miami run hotter than the spec sheet assumes — stop-and-go traffic, high ambient temperatures, and towing or hauling for a living all push transmission fluid temperature up, and heat is exactly what degrades solenoid packs and TCM wiring harnesses over time. If your truck is used commercially, that duty cycle is worth mentioning when we diagnose it.
We diagnose the module before assuming a costly mechanical failure
Before quoting a mechanical rebuild of the whole transmission, we diagnose the TCM/mechatronics first — reading live data and freeze-frame, not just clearing the code and seeing if it comes back. If the fault is in the module or solenoid pack, that's a fraction of the cost of a transmission overhaul. If it's a real mechanical failure, we tell you that too instead of selling you an electronics repair that won't fix it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the P0700 code tell me exactly what's wrong?
No — it's a generic flag, not a diagnosis by itself. We read live and freeze-frame data to identify the real cause before quoting any repair.
How do you tell a TCM fault apart from a real mechanical failure (clutches, gears)?
With detailed electronic diagnostics — on the Aisin AS69RC, for example, K1/K2 clutch wear can feel identical to a TCM fault but needs mechanical repair, not electronics. We tell you which one it is before selling you the wrong fix.
Do you ship the module by courier even though it's a heavy part?
Yes — we coordinate shipping and return of the TCM/mechatronics by courier, without you needing to move the truck or bring it anywhere.
