"Stage 1" and "Stage 2" get used a lot in the European tuning world, but rarely does anyone clearly explain what they actually mean and how much you gain on each, depending on the platform.

What each Stage means

• Stage 1 — software only, no hardware changes
• Stage 2 — software + downpipe/intercooler
• Stage 3 — turbo or supercharger upgrade

• BMW N54/N55/S55/B58 (with Bootmod3, MHD, JB4)
• Mercedes-AMG M177/M178/M139 (Weistec, Eurocharged): +50 to +132HP
• Porsche/Audi-VAG 3.0T/EA888 (APR, Unitronic): up to 627HP on the 992 911 with high-octane fuel

Transparency on emissions and warranty

None of these gas/European tunes use the "off-road use only" disclaimer you see in the diesel world — several are marketed as "50-state legal." It's a market with different rules than work trucks, and we operate with the same transparency that's already standard in this segment.
